If you ve let your blinds or shades accumulate dirt or if spot cleaning just isn t getting the job done it s time to give your blinds or shades a bath. Start with the headrail and wipe away any dirt or dust using a clean sponge or cloth dipped in your mixture of warm water and mild soap. Be sure to wring it out thoroughly before using it on your shades to keep moisture from getting inside the headrail.

Then fill your clean bathtub with warm soapy water and place them inside. If dusting hasn t helped stains blotted clean with a damp cloth warm water and a mild detergent like dish soap. Follow the direction of the pleating to prevent the fabric from becoming deformed or misshapen. Do not scrub the fabric as this can cause pilling or damage.
Use gentle short strokes when wiping your shades with a cloth duster or lint roller. Do not forget to clean the shade assembly with a damp cloth. Blot the affected area until the stain is gone then blot dry with another clean cloth.
