Cleaning Gold Plated Bathroom Fixtures

Go over all of the surfaces thoroughly with the cleaning cloth using a clean toothbrush to get into any crevices. The gold plated fittings in my bathroom have a considerable amount of limescale on them which makes them look even more tasteless than they were when new in the 1990s.

Rinse with warm water. When picking out additional fixtures show your designer a sample to match. For those of you who don t know what one part vinegar to three parts water means mix one cup vinegar with three cups water in a bowl or spray bottle. Metal plating makes sense if buying a less expensive fixture plus paying the cost of replating.

Rinse thoroughly and buff dry with a soft cloth. You are not supposed to use standard cleaning products on these as they can damage and strip the gold finish. Expect to pay around 100 for plating a small fixture such as a bathroom faucet. The electroplating process comes at a price.
