It involves using actual copper to color the aluminum while isolating the copper in the coating.

This process makes the copper color very stable and consistent compared to other copper anodize finishes. The anodic layer is three times harder than the aluminum itself and provides a natural abrasion resistance not found in copper brass and stainless steel. It is strong and corrosion resistant plus it s easy to machine and weld. Clear and black finishes are also known as decorative anodize.
